This week we started integrated social studies lessons during the literacy period. The children learned about some landmarks in the U.S.A. and their locations. Also, our student teacher from UNF, Ms. Ella conducted fun literacy lessons. Friday afternoon we had a great ASL lesson with Ms. Tyndall and Colleigh shared some souvenirs her grandma brought from Hawaii.

We celebrated Judah's birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday, Judah! We were so glad that his parents, sister and brother were able to join the celebration. We enjoyed fruit kabobs his parents brought. Thank you! We also celebrated Ms. Sanders' birthday on Thursday. We made a beautiful birthday card book for her. Since Ms. Sanders and Judah's birthdays are so close (February 20 and 21 respectively), Judah was our official presenter. Ms. Sanders was very happy to receive our book. Happy Birthday, Ms. Sanders! We had another handwork lesson with Ms. Bagsic's class! It was a beautiful day so we decided to finger knit outside. Saturday's Chili Cook-off was so much fun! Thank you, Elle and Raina
This week we welcomed new friends, Luca and Sofia. It did not take long for them to make friends. The children were very helpful to them. Welcome to Seaside, Sofia and Luca! Thank you, parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts, for joining us at the Sweetheart Lunch. On Friday we celebrated Valentine's Day baking heart-shaped huck-a-buck bread. While measuring the ingredients, we reviewed what we learned this week, fractions! The bread turned out delicious! Of course, the children had to sing this song! We had fun exchanging Valentines and eating delicious bread at the end of the day. Happy Valentine's Day!
Wow! What an exciting week we have had! We celebrated Lili's birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday, Lili! Thursday was the 100th day of school. The children made the 100th day trail mix. Thank you, parents, for donating the ingredients. We had handwork lessons with Ms. Kessler on Wednesday and Thursday. The children made beautiful felt heart garlands! The rest of the highlights include geometry lessons with Mr. Pinchot, literacy activities with UNF students, and picnic on the playground. Guess who made a surprise visit Friday afternoon? Makana!! He and his family moved to DC over the summer but came to visit SCCS. We were so excited to see him, his sister Stella, and his brother Benny again! |
