We had fun investigating the pumpkin on Friday. The children estimated its circumference, height and the number of seed and then found out actual measurements and number. They successfully implemented the math strategies they have learned when counting the seeds. The made group of tens and hundreds. After recording the numbers in unit form, they rewrote them in standard form. The pumpkin had 619 seeds! Here are a couple of more pictures from the playground (Lucas, Elle and Finn as the Seaside news crew interviewing Raina).

We planted some vegetable seeds in our class garden on Tuesday. Thank you for your assistance, Mrs. Veitch! The children worked so hard to have everything ready for the Fall Festival. I am so proud of them! I would like to thank the parents who helped us with handwork and student showcase preparation. I would also like to thank everyone who came to the festival to support our school. Enjoy the Fall Festival slideshow! We celebrated Joshua's birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday, Joshua!! Joshua's mom brought popsicles! :) On Monday Raina brought awapuhi (shampoo ginger) to share with us. She got it from her uncle's farm. We learned that awaphui is a safe plant and can be used in many ways. I have seen shampoos and hair conditioners that contain awapuhi before but I had no idea that we can drink its juice! It is also good for cleaning hands, which we did after outdoor play time. We had another fun-filled week. Some children worked so hard to build a fort on the playground. We meditated after outdoor play time. We put soil into our garden box. Now it is finally ready to plant some seeds! Leo lost a tooth on Thursday. This week our math lesson started with counting 1000 straws making bundles of tens and hundreds. They also practiced counting up to 1000 efficiently by ones, tens, and hundreds. We also had fun outside and enjoyed guided drawing. Again, Mrs. Belyea shared the beautiful surfing lesson pictures. Parents, thank you for sending your child's memory object. The children did an excellent job on their presentations. You will receive your child's presentation video link soon. |
