We had many fun activities this week. We went to the Jacksonville Zoo and the Gardens on Wednesday, enjoyed our last surf and yoga lessons on Thursday and participated in the Fitness Day activities (fun run, class relay, yoga and Zumba) on Friday. We celebrated Elle's early birthday on Thursday. Happy Birthday, Elle!

We had our last bread baking for the year Friday morning. A few months ago the children decided that they would make the bread dough without teacher's or parent volunteer's help on the last bread baking day. You should be very proud of the children. They did it all by themselves! Some children took leadership, read the recipe directions and assigned others to tasks (measuring ingredients, stirring, etc.). Everything went so beautifully and peacefully! I was pleased to see their teamwork and independence. Thank you, Mrs. Aaron, for providing the bread flour and doing dishes for us (if we had a large sink in our classroom, the children would definitely have done dishes). We had a great farm gardening class with Mr. Matt Friday afternoon. Last week I was assigned to Ms. Cairo's second grade class and had so much fun! It was so nice to teach my former students (I was a first grade teacher last year too) and see their growth. While I was away, my first graders had a great week with Mr. Connell. However, I missed them and it was so nice to be back Monday morning. Last week we had a new student. Welcome to Seaside, Carrie! Last week Danalee had a birthday. I am sorry that I was not able to be there to celebrate her birthday. Happy Belated Birthday, Danalee! This week Zorah had a birthday. Happy Birthday, Zorah! We had a great surfing lesson Thursday afternoon. What a busy week we had! On Monday we learned a lot about snakes. Mrs. Osborne, who is a SCCS parent and works at the Jacksonville Zoon and Gardens gave us a very informative presentation about snakes. We celebrated Emma's birthday on Wednesday. Happy Birthday, Emma! Friday's Grandparents/Special Guest Day was so much fun! Our guests were so impressed with our handwork skills. They enjoyed finger knitting with the children. We also had a great time having a picnic and nature walk. Although we had a great time with our guests on Friday, we were sad in the afternoon. Friday was Jonah's last day at Seaside. He is moving to California due to his dad's job transfer. We were so glad that Jonah's dad and his brother, Jack were able to join us for the Special Guest Day. Good bye, Jonah. We will miss you! Saturday's May Festival was a great success! The children did a super job on their Maypole dance and music performance! I was so impressed by their performance that I forgot to take pictures! Please visit our school and PTO Facebook pages for pictures and videos.
